This month's guide

Prayer requests

From the project to India as a whole — always at a broad regional level, never a specific city, village, or name, to protect those serving in the field.

Pray for the first groups of pastors beginning their studies in West Bengal — for perseverance, a readiness to learn, and safety at their monthly gatherings.

First groups

Pray for the course translation work, that each class would be prepared with clarity, biblical faithfulness, wisdom, and excellence, and that this content would bless and strengthen the training of many pastors and leaders.

Course translation

Pray for God to raise up faithful supporters, able to financially sustain the translation, production, and follow-up of the groups in the field, month after month.

Supporters

Pray for the churches and Christians of India — for unity, for growth in the Word, and for courage to live out and proclaim the gospel.

The Church in India

Pray for religious freedom in India. Twelve of the country's 28 states have "religious freedom" laws that restrict conversion, making life harder for those who decide to follow Christ.

Religious freedom

Pray for protection and courage for Christians facing discrimination, hostility, or violence because of their faith, especially where religious persecution is most intense.

Why pray for India

A few numbers help explain the spiritual backdrop of the work this project supports.

A small minority

Christians make up about 2.3% of India's population — a small minority in a country of more than 1.44 billion people.

Laws that restrict conversion

Twelve of India's 28 states have so-called "religious freedom" laws that, in practice, make conversion to another faith difficult or criminalize it.

A closely watched country

India appears frequently in reports from international organizations that track religious freedom around the world, due to cases of discrimination and violence against religious minorities.
